| GreenFaith Africa is African grassroots, multi-faith climate justice organization that mobilizes faith communities across the African continent to respond to the climate crisis through action, advocacy, and community resilience. It brings together Christians, Muslims, Indigenous spiritual communities, and other faith traditions to work collectively on environmental protection and social justice. Greenfaith Africa has an African focus, grounded in local realities such as droughts, floods, food insecurity, displacement, and energy injustice. Its work recognizes that faith institutions are among the most trusted, first responders and have widespread social systems in Africa, making them powerful platforms for climate awareness, behavior change, and social protection. GreenFaith Africa seeks to equip faith leaders, local grassroots faith communities and congregations with climate knowledge, advocacy skills, and practical tools for resilience. This includes training, supporting clean energy adoption (education and awareness creation on clean energy such as solar, clean cooking etc.,), promoting climate- smart agriculture, and strengthening community-based solidarity systems that act as informal social protection platforms/mechanisms during climate shocks. A defining feature of the organization is its ability to connect local faith-based action with national, regional international climate policy processes. It amplifies grassroots voices in decision-making spaces, influences climate finance and adaptation agendas, and advocates for a just transition away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy systems. Through interfaith collaboration, community mobilization, and strategic advocacy, GreenFaith Africa transforms faith communities into hubs of climate resilience and moral leadership. Its work bridges spirituality and science, ensuring that climate action is not only technical, but also ethical, inclusive, and deeply rooted in African cultural and spiritual values. |
